Dr Demetra Hadjiyiannis is a Consultant Paediatrician with a special interest (SPIN) in Paediatric Allergy. She completed her specialist training in Paediatrics in the United Kingdom and has over 10 years experience in the management of an extensive range of medical conditions affecting children from newborn up to adulthood including headaches, wheeze, asthma, eczema, food allergies, constipation, urine infections, feeding disorders and food intolerances. Dr Hadjiyiannis operates from her medical practice based in Larnaca, Cyprus. She is registered with GHS (GESY) as a General Paediatrician and sees both GESY and private patients.

Education, Training and Experience

Dr Hadjiyiannis graduated from University College London Medical School, United Kingdom, in 2009, obtaining both her medical degree and intercalated bachelor degree in Human Genetics. She completed her Foundation training in the Wessex and London deanery followed by her specialist Paediatric training in the East of England deanery (Cambridge), obtaining her MRCPCH membership in 2015. She subsequently completed her specialist interest training (SPIN) in Paediatric Allergy at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge. She has been awarded the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Paediatrics with a Special interest in Paediatric Allergy.

During her specialist training, Dr Hadjiyiannis undertook placements at multiple hospitals and tertiary units including renowned hospitals, such as Addenbrookes in Cambridge, UK. She has worked in the fields of general paediatrics, paediatric allergy and neonatal intensive care and has specialised in the management of acute, common and rare illness in children. She has trained in Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) and Neonatal Life Support (NLS) by the Resuscitation Council UK. She was nominated and subsequently completed her instructor course for Neonatal Life Support and is now a regular instructor for NLS in the UK.

Dr Hadjiyiannis is on the specialist register for General Paediatrics in the UK. She is a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics in the UK and a member of the British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (BSACI). She attends regular conferences for both General Paediatrics and Paediatric Allergy.

Throughout her medical career, Dr Hadjiyiannis has been involved in teaching medical students, both for bedside teaching and more formal clinical teaching. She has also helped with clinical mock exams for the Paediatric Membership exams (RCPCH) and helped paediatric trainees in preparing for these exams. She acted as a mentor for other paediatric colleagues offering her support and knowledge throughout her paediatric training.
